The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment
We have active minds. Consciously and more so unconsciously, the minds
radiate energy in the form of activities.
The mind is forever active, not a moment of stillness. Even at sleep. we
dream and the mind is till working.
Our minds and thinking revolve around the past, present and the future.
Images, forms and voices appear one after another. Sometime coherent pictures
are formed, most of the time not!
As we look into the past, we regret, or rejoice, have good memory or think
of sad moment. The result is either we are happy, or sad or miserable. If only
the mind is completely still - filled with emptiness. No joy nor sorrow. In
stillness and emptiness we derive new energy - the energy of real life.
As we look into the future, we have much anticipation and anxiety. We do
not know how the world will unfold, as it is so uncertain. We wish to have
brighter future and that thought causes us much stress - how to work out towards
that good outcome. Again we are in a state of hope, stress and anxiety.
If only the mind is completely still - filled with emptiness. No thought of hope
nor anxiety. In stillness and emptiness we derive new energy - the energy of
real life.
When we look at the present - there are circumstances to deal with. Making
money to earn a living, attending to children, getting the project going,
business trips to make, community service to follow up, .... Our life is
surrounded and detected by events around us. If only the mind is completely
still - filled with emptiness. No thought of dealing with this and that. In
stillness and emptiness we derive new energy - the energy of real life.
As we look at all these directions, past, present and future, there is
perpetual motion with time. And our mind and thinking is like the time clock -
non stop movement. And we go oscillating between high tide, low tide, joy and
sorrow, success and failures.
We forget the power of NOW, where everything stands still, fully
appreciating the presence of our sheer existence. Sense it, feel it without
emotion, anticipation nor anxiety.
As we enter into such phase of emptiness, we discover the new life and
experience new source of energy.
