As I still have four more days to go for my Advanced Energy Psychology training in Taipei, I wish to share with you my observations on Taipei Learning Appetite before sharing with you my learning from the training.

From my interactions with the students in the training course, visiting Taipei largest bookstores and some training vendors, I notice a high degree of Taipei learning appetite.

There are many seminars, training, workshops on subjects matter like Energy, Psychology, Healing, Relaxation, Life Purpose, etc. etc. Likewise in the bookstores, there are many books of such nature in great demand.

The more popular ones are the training guru / masters / speakers from the US, Canada, Europe etc. and there are many famous local speakers on the same subjects.

For example …

A.H. Almaas- ( Diamond Approach® to Self-Realization), Geshe Michael Roach (The Diamond Cutter: The Buddha on Managing Your Business and Your Life), Adam - (The Path of the Dream Healer: My Journey Through the Miraculous World of Energy Healing), Robin Sharma - (The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari: A Fable About Fulfilling Your Dreams & Reaching Your Destiny) , “Law of attraction” by several speakers etc.etc.

These best seller books from the US are quickly being translated into Mandarin and sold like hot cakes in Taipei. These authors / guru conduct training seminar workshop with translator in Mandarin.

Not only seminar rooms are packed, people pay RM 700 per day for 100 days for certain type of training program! total RM 70,000 (i.e. individuals, no company or employer sponsorship).

This is really amazing!

At the same time, many shared with me that they have been attending one seminar to another training to another workshop by different gurus. One is on such “in search of learning” journey for the last six years, now starting with another new program.

They complain draining of their hard earned money.

Majority of these learners are below middle age – they come with various agenda, most common of all – seeking meaning in life, or direction in life, looking for solutions to their stressful life, there are fewer people who come due to serious sickness or diseases.

Individual Learning and Organization learning

I notice marked similarities between individual learning (like above) and organization learning, differences are in a) former pay from their own pockets, b) difference in subject matter contents, later on leadership, motivation, change management (though quite similar)

But the learning attitudes, behavior and outcome are similar:

- Organizations invest a lot on training, seminars and workshops like the above individuals.
- Usually in majority of the cases, there are little happening after the class-room, i.e. no practice and no implementation, for both individual and organizations.

After 28 years with keen observation of large corporation exhibiting the above way of going about training people, I conclude the missing pieces in making learning works in two set of knowledge and skills –

• a) Use of Mindset Emotion Coaching approach (e.g. Unleashing Potentials towards Organizational Excellence) and

• b) Energy Psychology

Currently these are the services I offer to the organizations.

With the above observation on individual learning, I see great potentials to apply similar set of learning skills (Mindset Emotion Coaching and Energy Psychology) to the individuals, focusing on what happen after the classroom training - with one on one coaching and group coaching.

Or, to put in another way, it would be better for these individuals, instead of spending enormous time and money from one training to another training, they could seek a Mindset Emotion Coach – as their individual learning partners.
