After attending to about 100 cases of people with
sickness, problems and issues using Energy Psychology, the following
articles is a summarized learning on the principles and mechanics of
Energy Psychology.
I hope this article will help the EP practitioners
/ students and those who apply EP for self healing.
“I “ and “Myself” Model
In Energy Psychology procedure, after the negative
attention (focus or tuning in to say, physical pain, stress etc. ) we
affirm with positive “I accept myself, I forgive myself”.
What is the meaning and implication of such
affirmation?
In the above statements, there are two parties, or
entities i.e. “I” and “Myself”.
Hence this implies that there are two Persons.“I”
and “Myself”.
“Myself” – 小我
When a person is in difficulty : poor performance /
pain and suffering, physically, mentally, emotionally and
psychologically, the energy field, Qi, is disrupted, stuck and not
flowing in its natural Meridian paths. – As a model, let’s us call this
“Myself” or “Self” in the above situation.
In Eckhart Tolle’s language (The Power of Now) he
calls it “Pain Body” “Ego”
Such “Self” “Pain Body” or “Ego” is to be Accepted
and Forgiven by “I”.
Who is this “I”? - 大我
“I” is the Greater-self, “The Essence of the Being”
“The Purest the Perfect” As “I” expands and overrides the small egoistic
“self”, “I” then is closer to be in unity with the universe, with God.
And that “I” is always all Forgiving and all
Accepting.
Hence EP is helping ourselves or people in pain or
difficulty to diminish the “self” and expand the “I”
The Mechanics and Variables in the “Self”
A person in pain or difficulty – physical pain,
poor performance, in Energy Psychology, we treat that as Symptoms – and
focus on the Mind (thoughts) and Emotions as contributing or reinforcing
factors to the symptoms.

We could first start with the obvious physical
symptom – e.g. body pain and apply EP tapping. Sometimes the pain eases
or disappears. “I accept the pain and suffering, I forgive myself for
having the pain and suffering”
If not, we explore and bring to focus the
associated or arising emotions (anger, fear, hatred, anxiety, sadness,
…)– from current or past events or fear / anxiety of the future. . “I
accept the negative feelings and emotions; I forgive myself for having
the negative feelings and emotions”
“Emotion arises at the place where mind and body
meet. It is the body reaction to your mind. .. a reflection of your mind
in the body” – Eckhart Tolle
“You are not usually conscious of all your thought patterns, and it is
often through watching your emotions that you can bring them into
awareness” - Eckhart Tolle
“The more you are identified with your thinking, your likes and
dislikes, judgments and interpretations, which is to say less present
you are as the watching consciousness, the stronger the emotional energy
charge will be, whether you are aware of it or not.” - Eckhart Tolle
If the above still does not resolve the physical pain or emotional disturbances,
then we explore on the underlying thoughts, beliefs, values, opinions that could
be the causes. “I accept the thoughts, or belief, or values , I forgive myself
for having the thoughts , or belief, or values”
Or EP practitioner explores concurrently both the emotions and the associated
thoughts.
If a person, with problem or physical pain / sickness but expresses no emotions,
i.e., that person has difficulty to get in touch with the emotions (usually for
men, due to social conditioning that expressing emotion is a taboo since young),
more EP work is necessary.
At the same time, such person if pushes to the extreme of pain and suffering, an
awakening could occur as deep pain and suffering lead to anxiety and fear (e.g.
fear of death, a natural instinct of the living). We wish that it does not have
to be that way to attain peace.
“ … people who carry a lot of anger inside without being aware of it and without
expressing it are more likely to be attacked, verbally or even physically, by
other angry people and often for no apparent reason. They have a deep emanation
of anger that certain people pickup subliminally and that triggers their own
latent anger.” - Eckhart Tolle
Negative energy attracts another negative energy. Or,
Pain-body triggers another Pain-body in reaction and chain reaction can continue
and escalate. This often occurs in relationship problems. For example : between
husband wife, among family with children, in-law, colleagues etc.). The “closer”
the relationship among pain-bodies, the more intense and difficult is the
interaction. EP application can then be applied to all the concerned parties:
one on one and in group.
Summary
- Having good understanding and making good distinction in “I” and “Myself” when
we affirm “I Accept Myself, I Forgive Myself”.
- In order to restore the Qi system, we bring about higher Consciousness to
expand “I” (to be in unity with the universe and cosmos) and diminish “self” by
focusing on symptoms, emotions and the mind.
