Aging : Games and Reading

In some discussion groups, aging is a common discussion topic. 

There are a variety of topics e.g. what games are not suitable for people in aging? Some continue their youthful games like badminton, squash, rugby. 

Then there are cases of frequent bone fracture, due to fall, or games. This may lead to concussion, memory loss.

In our youth, severe fall or incidents at games, did not result in fracture, nor memory loss. A small child falls from 2nd floor to the ground, up he goes running again.

Some old people, due to severe coughing, there is loss of memory.

And the conclusion that vigorous games are certainly not suitable for people in aging.

How do we explain these phenomena?

What theories do we have to explain vigorous games not suitable for people in aging? It seems more common sense explanation.

3000 years China ancient wisdom has some key concepts for such explanation. I.e. Original Qi and True Qi (元气,正气) and Qi-Blood (气血).

At birth True Qi (元气) is stored at the kidneys, this concept is somewhat similar to DNA, immune system, but more than that.

Kidneys functionalities include health of bone, intelligence and memory, which operate at peak during youth. If the person has good life cultivation (养生)practice, then the aging becomes gradual and more graceful, as True Qi (正气)is cumulatively generated and stored for aging.

Both Original Qi and True Qi (元气,正气)are responsible to drive blood, nutrients to all parts of the body and remove toxin from the body due to metabolism.

Due to lack of attention to healthy life, ie. life cultivation (养生)as per ancient wisdom, Original Qi and True Qi (元气,正气)become deficient over time. In the case of weak Qi, even severe cough can cause blockage to the qi blood to the brain and cause memory loss or deafness.

Does regular reading help to improve brain functionalities?

We do have people having serious aging sickness and symptoms with or without reading habits.

This can be explained by Qi Blood concept.

Reading requires brain activities, which needs energy, or as per ancient wisdom, needs Qi Blood.

If the Qi is weak and / or, blood quality is poor for the concerned persons, then too much reading cause strain to the body system and the brain.

How do we know whether the quality of Qi Blood is optimal for old age? The tell tale signs are in the Body Constituents, which you can make assessment to know your body internal condition.

Ancient wisdom not only offers us comprehensive and integrated theories to explain all phenomena, such theories can be put into practice, e.g. how to improve the quality of Qi and Blood, through food therapy, Qi exercises and emotional and personality balancing.

Better Health requires Paradigm Shift

It is encouraging to see more and more enrollments to the ancient wisdom video courses.

Many express amazement that there is not only interesting but also revolutionary ideas about health, sickness and diseases, which were advocated 3000 years ago.

With such amzement, many sign up to all the video courses concerning ancient wisdom, Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic.

However, I do realize some challenges faced by the learners.

This is because for centuries our minds are conditioned by the western science, western medicine and western nutrition theory to understand our body system in a particular manners, which is incomplete and hence not holistic.

Now the ancient wisdom presents a very different approach which can really address the fundamental issues with prevention and solutions.

But the subconscious mind, being heavily conditioned, cannot easily shift the paradigm after a few hours of the video courses. Hence practitioners will soon revert back to the old thinking pattern and not allowing the new practice to take roots.

For this reason, I encourage the learners to make good use of the video courses, i.e. these video courses are available for re-visit as many times as necessary.

Furthermore I organize a Telegram Discussion Group for members to share, discuss, more Q&A on their daily practices and more queries on the ancient theories.

By such reinforcement, paradigm shift can take roots and participant can enjoy the new practice towards well being.

Ejaculation Frequency

This topic “What is the Ejaculation Frequency for Optimum Men’s Health and Longevity?” was brought out for discussion by one of the members  in our Ancient Wisdom Learning group.

The reference article mentioned about eastern philosophy of Tao’s teaching that  a man must preserve and retain his semen in order to enhance his strength, health and longevity. 

Unfortunately the article only narrowly focuses on sexual performance issue, which is only a part of the overall Body Mind and Emotion System. Thus it can be misleading.

How does Ancient Wisdom view this issue in a more holistic way? 
We shall discuss briefly.

Ancient wisdom is based on the book “Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic” near 3000 years ago. This book is a dialogue between the Emperor and his teacher. In the 1st chapter, the teacher said : “You have thousands of concubines, you must not overly indulge in sex, as that will make you weaker, get old faster and contract many kinds of diseases.”

Why such great emphasis on the consumption of semen?

Semen is termed “Jing 精” in Chinese, it means Essence. And Essence is one of the 5 key variables of our life system. (Refer to the Ancient Wisdom video training).

Upon birth, DNA is stored in the Essence. The amount of Essence stored upon birth is fixed, diminishes over time till death. We need supply of new Essence for daily activities (mental, physical and emotional), which comes from foods.

Do you know what foods can contribute to the generation of Essence? Do you know under what conditions, even with so called nutritious foods, Essence cannot be generated?

Our imbalanced lifestyle, excessive mental, physical and emotional activities can overly consume the Essence, speeding up the aging process, or weaken the Essence, even without overly indulge in sexual activities, and poor quality sperm that may produce unhealthy babies like Autism.

People with serious sickness like Parkinson, dementia, Autism, diabetes etc. are indications the Essence is out of balance, or deficient.

Then how to ensure adequate and quality Essence for overall healthy Body Mind and Emotions?

That is an incomplete question. 

A holistic question should be “ How to balance all the 5 fundamental variables : Essence, Consciousness, Qi, Blood and Body Fluids” as they all interact with each other.

Hence without practice on overall balancing, even if you follow the Tao’s teaching on the Ejaculation Frequency, your health can still be in serious problems.

Again, Ancient Wisdom is overall System approach.

What foods for Body & Mind

We often say, we need healthy foods.

This implies that if we have healthy foods, we will have better health.

Don’t you think this assumption is too simplistic and too general?

Perhaps the emphasis is on “What foods for Body and Mind”.

We want Complete Health, Not just treating a symptom or two.

(This is sharing of learning gathered, without mentioning the learner’s name and particulars).

A student completed the Food Therapy video trainingand also completed the Body Constituent questionnaires and raised some questions.

The learner has many years of sleeping problem.

Learner finds that there is a mix of different types of Body Constituents relevant to herself, with different scores.

From the Body Constituent questionnaires, she also realizes there are many more symptoms experienced, and not just sleeping problems.

The following is some discussion.

In your case, focus on the one with highest score e.g. Phlegm-damp Body Constituent 痰湿体质。

The video course also explains if Phlegm is not arrested, and cumulative in different parts of the body, e.g. at heart, it may cause insomnia, if at the brain, it many cause stroke etc..

The questionnaires give details of symptoms e.g. oily face, sticky feeling, joints pain, constipation, cannot sweat easily ….

These symptoms experienced are important Indicators to watch up for, while doing various therapies 调理, until improvement is made.

Since this particular video course is on Food Therapy, then the learner should refer to the tables given indicating what foods to avoid, what foods to consume.

The video course also gives details on Food Plan.

Do the above for a few months to get the new diet plan into routine.

Later learn and apply other therapies.

You Stagnant Qi Body Constituent (气郁体质) score is rather high xxxx.

The main cause of Stagnant Qi is your management of your emotions.

e.g.

you mentioned you are emotionally dependent on others, .

being soft hearted in doing charity,

lack of decisiveness in making life decision,

etc.

Stagnant Qi, later, can lead to Blood Stasis 血瘀, (as explained in my video), and Blood Stasis have a lot of problems to the body, imagine your blood too thick, full of toxin, cannot flow easily … blood stasis in the brain causes memory loss, in the heart causes heart attack, at the leg causes water retention and legs weakness etc. etc.)

You can better realize 3000 yrs ancient wisdom links Personality with health issues. And we all have imperfect personality, hence with different health challenges.

Note: 200 yrs Western Medicine does not have such theory linking personality with diseases, Western Medicine focuses on identifying more and more new virus and kill them.

Being aware of the above on Personality is important, we cannot change such behaviors overnight.

Hence you start with developing discipline in the Food Therapy you learned so far, and later the Qi Exercise …by practicing such discipline, you enhance your emotional stability.

Awakening the World

Greetings.

I am happy to announce that another video course on “Ancient Wisdom Today Well Being” is published, i.e.

“Meridians, Qi Exercise & Many Self Help Healing Methods”

In this video course, we first discuss about Western Education on Exercise for Health. With critical examination, we find that the concepts and ideas conveyed (that almost affect the whole world population) are limiting, some misleading and in most cases cannot improve health, some in the long run damage health at old age, and some can be fatal.

This is especially so revealing when we study understanding about Exercise for Health as presented by the Ancient Wisdom

We discuss the underlying Theory of the Ancient Wisdom, in what way, Qi Exercise improve health and in what specific way for people with different health issues.

With knowledge on many other self-help healing methods, we acquire power in our own hands to improve our health, or even to practice as part of Life Cultivation for autistic child or diseases like Parkinson, cancers etc.

As per another video course on “Food Therapy” we realize that it is the same Governing Theory of the ancient wisdom on Qi Exercise for Health and Food Theory. Meridian system is part of the Central Theory.

This is what is lacking in Western Medicine and Western Nutrition Theory, there is no coherent integrated Theory.
